Emily Hodgson
Lab technician, MSC applied Science
Emily is a Master’s student and lab technician with In_CoaST, combining her passion for the outdoors with her interest in coastal ecosystems, especially plant communities. As an avid outdoorswoman, she enjoys learning about the variety of salt marshes across the Maritimes and their dynamic plant life.
Her thesis focuses on examining vegetation communities in tidal wetlands along Nova Scotia’s diverse coastlines. The project involves sediment coring, vegetation surveys, and data analysis to explore species composition and habitat shifts. Through her work as both a student and staff member, Emily aims to contribute to coastal restoration efforts and promote sustainable management practices for these vital ecosystems.
