Getting around

Parking

Parking is very limited on Saint Mary’s University Campus. We highly recommend attendees take alternative methods wherever possible.

SMU parking lots are by permit only, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Parking without a permit is permitted outside those hours (overnight parking is not permitted). There is one paid parking lot on campus, located on Inglis Street. Parking may be paid at pay stations or using the Hot Spot App.

Two-hour street parking is available in the neighbourhood streets surrounding campus.

Take a ride on the Halifax Harbour Ferries - The ferries connect Halifax and Dartmouth (Both Downtown and Woodside).

Visit the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site - Accessible by vehicle or on foot, Citadel Hill is free to explore, or purchase a Parks day pass to explore the Historic Citadel

Pop in to a farmer’s market:

Explore Point Pleasant Park - This historic 75-hectare wooded area is home to scenic ocean views, forested trails, off-leash dog areas, preserved ruins of early fortifications, and more!

Visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - Learn about Atlantic Canadian Maritime history, explore interactive exhibits and more. 

Quench your thirst at a local Brewery- There are lots of local breweries in the Halifax Regional Municipality, and throughout Nova Scotia. 

Visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 - Learn about the ongoing story of immigration to Canada—past to present and coast to coast to coast.
